Brail Construction Visits Aiyetoro Community on Coastal Rescue Mission
In a deeply emotional and symbolic visit, Brail Construction, led by its Chairman, Engr. (Dr.) Babatunde Lawal, visited Aiyetoro Community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State to assess firsthand the devastating impact of coastal erosion that has plagued the once-thriving town.

The delegation was warmly received by the King of Aiyetoro and members of the community with a traditional song of hope, signifying the community’s belief in the visit as a rescue mission from the long-standing environmental crisis.
A Community on the Brink
Aiyetoro, historically known as a peaceful and industrious coastal town, has over the years suffered alarming environmental degradation. During the inspection, the Brail team observed extensive land loss, with a significant portion of the community already submerged by the Atlantic Ocean. The palace of the King, along with many homes and community structures, has been severely affected.
“What we saw today is heartbreaking. This is no longer a future threat—it is a present reality,” said Engr. (Dr.) Lawal. “Aiyetoro is losing its land, culture, and people to the sea. This situation calls for urgent and strategic intervention.”
Hope Through Partnership
The visit was part of a larger commitment by Brail Construction, in collaboration with the Ondo State Government, to identify and implement critical infrastructure projects in coastal areas under threat. Dr. Lawal reaffirmed the company’s determination to work closely with government and technical partners to design long-lasting engineering solutions to protect and restore the coastline.
“Aiyetoro is not just a community; it is a potential economic hub for Nigeria’s blue economy,” he added. “We must not allow it to vanish. We will do all we can, with the support of the Ondo State Government, to ensure the right steps are taken to preserve and rebuild this historic town.”

The King and Community Respond
Speaking during the visit, the King of Aiyetoro expressed deep appreciation for the delegation’s presence, describing it as the first hopeful moment in years. Community elders and youths alike echoed their readiness to support any efforts aimed at saving their land and restoring livelihoods.
The community’s heartfelt welcome, marked by traditional songs and prayers, underscored both the urgency of their plight and the hope they place in this partnership.

Next Steps
Brail Construction is expected to initiate environmental and engineering assessments to determine the best approaches to shoreline protection, reclamation, and the restoration of public infrastructure in the town. Stakeholder engagements and feasibility studies will follow in the coming months.
